Majestic Tawang

Madhu Pant Noida “I found peace in Tawang. The majestic mountains, the enchanting valleys, and the glorious lakes made me fall in love with the town.”

The rugged, untouched beauty of Tawang is melodious. Nature is supreme here, with the Himalayas meeting lakes in a singsong and the sun peeking out from the mountains. Bordered by Tibet and Bhutan, this hill town is situated at an altitude of 3,000 metres and is home to the Monpa people. It was the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso, and remains an important Buddhist pilgrim site.

The best time to visit Tawang is between May and October. Your first impression of the town will be formed when you cross the Sela Pass
