Embracing about 30 islands, the South Malé Atoll is much less crowded than North Malé and offers a more authentic local experience. Snorkelling is a must here, especially in the protected marine area of Maaya Thila, where you may spot the elusive guitar shark and also white-tip sharks and turtles. The gigantic whale sharks also show up from June to October. Yes, snorkelling amidst the colourful marine life is indeed a pleasure.

Play fisherman by going on a night-fishing trip aboard a dhoni (traditional bait). Feel the excitement of making the snappers, squirrelfish and emperors bite the bait. Your crew will cook the day’s catch for you, maybe Maldivian-style.
